The history of the town of Kisköre dates back 700 years. River Tisza has been playing an important role for centuries in the life of people living in this region. Earlier, people made a living here mainly from fishing and agriculture, so it is not by chance that the key motifs of the coat of arms of the town reflect these fields. Nowadays, of course Lake Tisza, the Kisköre Dam and the Hydroelectric Power Station have a decisive role in the life of inhabitants. The settlement was granted town status in 2005.
